All academic, administrative, and residential buildings on campus should have good wireless coverage. However, sometimes you may find you need a wired network port to plug in your computer, game console, or television. All residence hall rooms, classrooms, and most offices around campus should have one or more ethernet ports available.
Students may request one port activation each.
-
To begin, locate the network port in your room. It will be on a wall, about 1-2 feet above the floor, and have a faceplate with labels on it containing letters and/or numbers. It will look similar to this:

- Take a picture of the faceplate. We will need the label information to know which port to activate.
- Create a new ticket in the Service Desk. To do that, you may click the new ticket link at the top right of this page, or browse to https://service.taylor.edu/TDClient/141/Portal/Requests/ServiceDet?ID=1229&SIDs=76 and fill out the form. Please be sure to include your name, building or dorm, the label on the port, and click Attach files to include the picture of the faceplate (if possible).
- We will respond to your ticket if we have any follow-up questions or to let you know when your port has been activated.
At the beginning of the Fall and Spring semesters, we tend to have many port activation requests to fulfill. For this reason, it may be a few days before we are able to activate your port.
