Removing and Re-Adding Your Taylor Account to the Microsoft Authenticator App

⚠️ Important First Step (Required)

  • As a security precaution, we must verify your identity before we can make any changes to your account.
  • A User Services staff member must reset your sign-in method on your account.
  • You must also remove your Taylor account from the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone.

Step 1 — Remove the Old Taylor Account from the Authenticator App

iPhone

  1. Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone.
  2. Find your Taylor account in the list.
  3. Swipe left on it.
  4. Tap Remove.
  5. Select This app only.

Android

  1. Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone.
  2. Find your Taylor account.
  3. Tap the gear icon (⚙️) in the top-right corner of the screen.
  4. Tap Remove account.
  5. Select This app only.

Android Troubleshooting (If You Can’t Remove the Account)

Delete from System Accounts

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Passwords, keys & accounts.
  3. Select Work or school account.
  4. Delete the Taylor account.

Clear Authenticator App Data

  1. Swipe down twice from the top of your screen.
  2. Tap Settings ⚙️.
  3. Go to Apps → See all apps.
  4. Tap Microsoft Authenticator.
  5. Select Storage & cache.
  6. Tap Clear storage and Clear cache.

Step 2 — Re-Add Your Taylor Account

This part works best if you use both your phone and a computer.

On Your Phone

  1. Open Microsoft Authenticator.
  2. Tap + Add account.
  3. Select Work or school account.
  4. Choose Scan a QR code.
  5. Leave this screen open.

On Your Computer

  1. Go to: https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info
  2. Sign in with your Taylor email and password.
  3. Click your profile icon in the lower-left corner of the screen.
  4. Select View Account.
  5. Click Security Info.

You may see a message that says:
“Your organization needs more information to keep your account secure.”
→ Click Next.

  1. Click + Add sign-in method.
  2. Choose Authenticator app.
  3. Click Next until a QR code appears.

Finish Setup

  1. Use your phone to scan the QR code.
  2. A number will appear on your computer.
  3. Enter that number on your phone.
  4. Tap Yes.
  5. Follow the remaining prompts to complete the set up.
